چکیده

We introduce a novel inversion algorithm for electrical impedance tomography in two dimensions, based on a model reduction approach. The reduced models are resistor networks that arise in five point stencil discretizations of the elliptic partial differential equation satisfied by the electric potential, on adaptive grids that are computed as part of the problem. We prove the unique solvability of the model reduction problem for a broad class of measurements of the Dirichletto-Neumann map. The size of the networks is limited by the precision of the measurements. The resulting grids are naturally refined near the boundary, where we measure and expect better resolution of the images. To determine the unknown conductivity, we use the resistor networks to define a nonlinear mapping of the data that behaves as an approximate inverse of the forward map. Then we formulate an efficient Newton-type iteration for finding the conductivity, using this map. We also show how to incorporate a priori information about the conductivity in the inversion scheme.

Study of Noise Effects in Electrical Impedance Tomography with Resistor Networks

We present a study of the numerical solution of the two dimensional electrical impedance tomography problem, with noisy measurements of the Dirichlet to Neumann map. The inversion uses parametrizations of the conductivity on optimal grids. The grids are optimal in the sense that finite volume discretizations on them give spectrally accurate approximations of the Dirichlet to Neumann map. The ap...

Circular resistor networks for electrical impedance tomography with partial boundary measurements

We introduce an algorithm for the numerical solution of electrical impedance tomography (EIT) in two dimensions, with partial boundary measurements. The algorithm is an extension of the one in [11, 49] for EIT with full boundary measurements. It is based on resistor networks that arise in finite volume discretizations of the elliptic partial differential equation for the potential, on so-called...

Performance improvements in a MF-EIT system for acute stroke: The UCL Mk2.5

A recently developed EITS system, the UCLH mk2.5 was tested on a resistor phantom and in linear time and frequency difference imaging of a cylindrical tank, 10cm diameter, filled with 0.1% saline, and 16 electrodes in a ring; the test object was a cylinder of banana, 2 cm long and 1 cm in diameter. Reproducible images with the same location as the test object were obtained with both methods. No...

A Versatile and Reproducible Multi-Frequency Electrical Impedance Tomography System

A highly versatile Electrical Impedance Tomography (EIT) system, nicknamed the ScouseTom, has been developed. The system allows control over current amplitude, frequency, number of electrodes, injection protocol and data processing. Current is injected using a Keithley 6221 current source, and voltages are recorded with a 24-bit EEG system with minimum bandwidth of 3.2 kHz. Custom PCBs interfac...
